Emergency Department

At Hendrick Emergency Department, you will be assessed and treated by highly skilled staff specialized in the treatment and diagnosis of cardiac chest pain. Your chance of survival of a serious heart attack depends on the quick delivery of care. Our medical professionals are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and advanced training to handle emergencies quickly and efficiently. If you or someone you know experiences the following symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.

The following are symptoms that might indicate immediate need for treatment of cardiac chest pain:

  • Chest pain
  • Burning
  • Pressure
  • Squeezing
  • Heaviness or fullness
  • Radiating pain (jaw, arms, throat, ears, neck)
  • Anxiety
  • Sweating
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Shortness of breath
  • Choking sensation

*Women are more likely to complain of abdominal, epigastric or back pain, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting and fatigue.
** Diabetic patients are at a high risk of heart attack, and the symptoms may be vague and less pronounced.
