The Respiratory Care Department provides comprehensive personalized services to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within Hendrick Medical Center 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

The goal of our practitioners is to assist our patients in altering their lifestyle changes or choices to prevent further respiratory problems and achieve optimal health, previous functioning level and maintain an enriched quality of life.

Treatments offered by the Respiratory Care Department include:

Bronchodilator therapy, including aerosol and intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB)
Chest physiotherapy
Oxygen therapy
Portable oxygen
Transportation of acute pulmonary or mechanically ventilated patients
Ventilator management
Arterial blood gas (sampling and analyzing)
Pulmonary function testing at bedside
Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
Pulse oximetry monitoring and testing
ETCO2 monitoring and testing
Respiratory services to outpatients
Sputum induction
Clinical consultation
Patient education
Patient assessment and evaluation
