Admission Requirements
- Required Prerequisites:
○ High School Diploma or G.E.D.
○ Official College Transcript with a minimum of 15 hours
of transferrable college credit including:
3 hours in English
3 hours in math
3 hours in anatomy and physiology
3 hours in medical terminology
3 hours in social/behavioral science, natural science, computer or humanities/fine arts
Must have a "C", 2.0 or better in required prerequisite classes.
Transcripts must be turned in by March 31 for July classes and September 30 for January classes.

- Applications are issued when orientation session is completed.
- Complete aptitude examination prior to application deadline. Test dates are scheduled in February, May, August and November.
- Return completed application by deadline - March 1 for July classes or September 1 for January classes.
- Interviews by selection committee in May and November.
- Classes begin in July and January. Class size is small, so not all applicants can be admitted.
- Acceptance into the program is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history and drug test. For a detailed listing of what crimes prohibit admission, contact Stacy Kirk at 325-670-3169.
- Students are required to have email access.
Note: A prerequisite associate's or bachelor's degree will be required for classes beginning in or after January 2013.
Application Process
The first step in the application process is to complete orientation. Orientation sessions are scheduled in February, May, August and November. During the orientation session you will be informed of various procedures performed by a radiologic technologist and given a chance to ask questions. Contact us at 325-670-2364 to reserve a seat. Applicants should wear clothing suitable for an employment interview and comfortable shoes. Do not wear jeans, shorts, sandals or fragrances.
Skill Standards
There are a number of physical, mental, aptitude and emotional skills which are essential in the duties and responsibilities of a medical radiographer, as well as a student in the radiologic technology program. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- The ability to manipulate portable imaging equipment and other medical/technical equipment.
- The ability to physically operate all types of imaging equipment.
- The physical ability to assist in lifting patients from a cart, bed or wheelchair to the radiographic table.
- The ability to lift, bend and stoop.
- The ability to visually observe (see) the patient at a minimum distance of 20 feet. The ability to read the requisition in the execution of a radiographic procedure, and the visual acuity to see the X-ray control panel.
- Auditory perception is required in the care and management of the patient. The applicant (student) must be able to respond to the auditory needs of the patient, respond to the auditory communication of the physician(s), nurse(s) and co-workers.
- The ability to orally communicate in English.
- The ability to maintain an emotional state to function in times of stress and in emergency situations.
- Posses the physical stamina (endurance) to maintain a 40 hours per week commitment to the program.
- Posses the aptitude for reading comprehension and use of elementary algebra.
- The ability to perform CPR and emergency patient evacuation procedures.
- The general health of the applicant should be sufficient for them to carry out all the duties and responsibilities of a student radiographer.
