We welcome applicants for admission from all qualified applicants regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, or disability.

Application Requirements

  • Good health
  • Required Prerequisites:
    ○ High School Diploma or G.E.D.
    ○ College Transcript with a minimum of 15 hours college credit including:
                   3 hours in English
                   3 hours in Math
                   9 hours in social/behavioral science, natural science, computer, or humanities/fine arts
          
          Must have a "C", 2.0 or better in required  prerequisite classes.
          Transcripts must be turned in by the Aptitude Test date in March.  
  • Complete one orientation session scheduled in April, August, or December
  • Applications are issued when orientation session is completed
  • Return completed application by January 31
  • Complete aptitude examination given in March
  • Interviews by selection committee in April
  • Classes begin in July and the following January.

 Application Process
The first step in the application process is to complete orientation. Orientation sessions are usually scheduled on the third Friday in April, August, and December. During the orientation session you will be informed of various procedures performed by a radiologic technologist and given a chance to ask questions. Contact us to schedule an appointment. Applicants should wear clothing suitable for an employment interview and comfortable shoes. Do not wear blue jeans, shorts, sandals, or fragrances. Call 325.670.2364 for an appointment.

Skill Standards

  1. There are a number of physical, mental, aptitude, and emotional skills which are essential in the duties and responsibilities of a medical radiographer, as well as a student in the radiologic technology program. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
    The ability to manipulate portable imaging equipment and other medical/technical equipment.
  2. The ability to physically operate all imaging equipment.
  3. The physical ability to assist in lifting patients from a cart, bed, or wheelchair to the radiographic table.
  4. The ability to lift, bend, and stoop.
  5. The ability to visually observe (see) the patient at a minimum distance of 20 feet. The ability to read the requisition in the execution of a radiographic procedure, and the visual acuity to see the X-ray control panel.
  6. Auditory perception is required in the care and management of the patient. The applicant (student) must be able to respond to the auditory needs of the patient, respond to the auditory communication of the physician(s), nurse(s), and co-workers.
  7. The ability to orally communicate in English.
  8. The ability to maintain an emotional state to function in times of stress and in emergency situations.
  9. Posses the physical stamina (endurance) to maintain a 40 hours/week commitment to the program.
  10. Posses the aptitude for reading comprehension and use of elementary algebra.
  11. The ability to perform CPR and emergency patient evacuation procedures.
  12. The general health of the applicant should be sufficient for them to carry out all the duties and responsibilities of a student radiographer.

  • Applications are due by January 31 for classes beginning in July and the following January. Non-refundable $25 fee required with application.
  • The required aptitude examination is given in March. Applicants are notified by mail of the exact date.
  • Interview with the selection committee in April. Applicants are notified by mail of the exact date.
  • Classes usually begin in July and the following January. Selection of applicants is made only once a year for both classes.
  • Class size is small; not all applicants can be admitted.
