About Stephen

Dr. Stephen Scoggin, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon with Hendrick Clinic. He served patients in the Brownwood and Brown County area from 2004-2010 and has returned home to continue serving former patients and meeting new ones.

Dr. Stephen Scoggin graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1983 and from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston McGovern Medical School in 1987. His postgraduate experience included training at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, the Julian Rickles Fellowship in Surgical Oncology, and completed his surgery training at Texas A&M University College of Medicine, Scott & White Memorial Hospital in 1992.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Texas Surgical Society. He has certified and recertified twice with the American Board of Surgery and participates in the Maintenance of Certification program. Dr.Scoggin also served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Reserve Medical Corps.

Dr. Scoggin previously practiced surgery in Burnet County as a member of the Seton Family of Doctors and maintains staff membership at Seton Highland Lakes in Burnet and Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas. He also serves as an expert panelist for the Texas Medical Board.

His areas of expertise include general surgery with a special interest in gastrointestinal disease and endoscopy. In his spare time, Dr. Scoggin enjoys spending time with his family and taking care of the ranch with his son.
