“What I enjoy most about medicine, and surgery in particular, is the ability to make a real, immediate difference in people’s lives. I’m drawn to the hands-on nature of surgery and the balance it requires between technical skill, critical thinking and compassion.”

Dr. Matthew Sowa received his bachelor of science in biochemistry and his master of science in chemical biology at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He attended medical school at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. He completed his general surgery residency at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Dr. Sowa performs a variety of general surgery procedures, including robotic surgery.
