Hendrick Health began with the vision of a minister and his church in Abilene. Commitment to express the kind of care that Jesus showed during his earthly ministry has been a part of our identity from the very beginning. The Hendrick mission says that we will “deliver high quality healthcare emphasizing excellence and compassion consistent with the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.” Pastoral care addresses the spirit, faith, hope, despair, meaning, purpose, life, death, guilt, forgiveness, fear and doubt. Chaplains offer help for people trying to connect meaning with life circumstances that don’t often make sense or seem fair.
The Mission and Ministry Department serves the spiritual needs of patients and their families as a complement to the efforts of Hendrick Health and ministers to persons of all faiths and those of none.
Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To speak with a chaplain, please call:

If a patient identifies a church affiliation at the time of admission, we will attempt to notify the church. We also assist patients in contacting their own minister or faith group representative.
As a partner in the family of Texas Baptist institutions, Hendrick is affiliated with other Baptist hospitals in Texas that share our vision of Christian healthcare.
