Hendrick Medical Center South, formerly Abilene Regional Medical Center, is a 231-bed facility with inpatient, outpatient, medical, surgical and emergency care.

Public Entrances

Public access into Hendrick Medical Center South will be restricted to three entrances.

  • Main Entrance - (Mon-Fri; 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.)
  • Outpatient Pavilion - (Mon-Fri; 5 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
  • Women's Center - Staff, wound care patients, and women's diagnostic imaging patients may enter at 6:30 a.m. Visitors may enter at 9:00 a.m. The entrance closes at 5:00 p.m.

Emergency Department

The Emergency Department entrance is open for emergencies only. If you feel you are having a medical emergency, please proceed to the Emergency Department.


Policy effective date: August 1, 2022

  • All patients and visitors must check-in at a screening station upon entering the facilities. Identification will be needed for this process.
  • No visitors under the age of 16 are permitted.
  • Masks are required for individuals inside Hendrick facilities, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Visitation is restricted to one visitor in the facility at a time.
  • For COVID-19 patients, one visitor is permitted in the facility at a time, allowing for two visitors per day.
  • Additional screenings and personal protective equipment may be required for those entering certain areas.
  • Individuals experiencing fever or other signs of infection are not permitted to enter Hendrick facilities.

*Exceptions may apply for pediatrics and end-of-life.

Hendrick encourages those who are unvaccinated, immunocompromised or at high risk to continue masking, and those who are eligible to be vaccinated.


The Café is located on the first floor.

Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 7 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.


Starbucks is located in the main lobby and offers grab-and-go snacks, pastries and Starbucks coffee and tea.

Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The Gift Shop

Located on the first floor in the main lobby area.

Spiritual Support

Chaplains are available 24/7. To visit with a chaplain, call 325-386-5863 during the daytime hours. At night, during the weekend or on holidays, chaplains are available and accessible through the hospital operator at 325-428-1000. The department office is located on the first floor adjacent to the main lobby.

The Chapel is located on the first floor across from the Gift Shop and public elevators.

In order to better fulfill the needs of our patients and their families, Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood is pleased to provide you with free public wireless internet. Our wireless network supports 802.11b/g devices. Most wireless devices automatically discover wireless access points and allow you to connect.
