About Us

The Hendrick Medical Center Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that exists to foster and support the purposes of Hendrick Medical Center. The Foundation, established in 1974, encourages, receives and manages gifts and bequests for the benefit of Hendrick Medical Center.

Board of Directors

The Foundation is governed by a board of directors whose membership is drawn from three segments: the community-at-large, the medical staff at Hendrick and the hospital's board of trustees.

Methods of Giving

The Foundation offers opportunities for giving in several ways. Gifts of cash are the most common type of support. Gifts of securities, real estate, insurance and personal property are received. For those who wish to receive life income, several types of agreements, such as charitable remainder trusts and gift annuities can be used. In addition to these gifts, the Foundation can be named beneficiary in a Will.

Norm Archibald

Norm Archibald

System Vice President, Foundation
Mr. Archibald began his tenure at Hendrick in 1994 as Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving. He is currently Chief Development Officer, heading up the Hendrick Medical Center Foundation for more than 25 years. He obtained his bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Texas A&M University, as well as a master's degree from Abilene Christian University and a doctorate degree from Texas Tech University. Mr. Archibald also served as the mayor of Abilene for 13 years. He is responsible for all of the capital campaigns for Hendrick Medical Center.

Brad Benham

Brad Benham

System Assistant Vice President, Foundation

Mr. Benham joined Hendrick in June 2021. He is an Abilene native and a graduate of Wylie High School and Abilene Christian University. He went on to earn his JD from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California.

Mr. Benham was formerly the President of the ACU Foundation before coming to Hendrick. Benham also practiced law in Los Angeles with two private firms, in addition to serving as the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Affairs for Pepperdine University Law School.

In the Abilene community, he serves on the City of Abilene’s Planning and Zoning Commission and is a member of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce’s Abilene Young Professionals (AYP). He and his wife are avid supporters and volunteers for the Abilene Zoo. He also belongs to the American Council of Gift Annuities and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
