From 1914 – 1945, Dr. Butler primarily served Abilene’s African American community, but he cared for white and Hispanic patients, as well. He began his practice in his home on Mesquite Street, serving the neighborhood and populations that typically could not get equal, nor adequate, healthcare. At Hendrick Health, it is our privilege to follow Dr. Butler’s example in the service to everyone in our communities. This service includes our patients and our team member, as we continue or mission to deliver high quality healthcare emphasizing excellence and compassion consistent with the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

Each year, a total of $5,000 of scholarships will be given to the chosen Hendrick Health employees who have been selected based on their applications. Your donation will go toward the endowment of The Dr. William H. Butler, Sr. Scholarship for the Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Diversity in Healthcare. All donations are tax deductible.
