Hendrick Health to host wellness fair, May 3

Take charge of your health by attending the Hendrick Health Wellness Fair Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Mall of Abilene, 4310 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.

At the free community event, approximately 30 booths will be staffed with Hendrick Health representatives. There will be:

• Screenings and health assessments, including blood pressure, cholesterol and grip strength testing
• Demonstrations, including the da Vinci and Mako robotic-assisted surgical systems and fitness
• Interactive displays, including lung function, tourniquet and wound packing in an emergency, signs of a heart attack and stroke and how to access the Hendrick Health app
• Health resources, including outpatient pharmacy services, medical weight loss and bariatric surgery, diabetes education, medical supplies, radiology services, home health, women’s health and advanced directives

Medical providers also will be giving presentations on the following topics:

• Digestive health and colon cancer prevention – noon
• Bladder health – 1 p.m.
• Cancer prevention – 2 p.m.
• Bone and joint care – 3 p.m.

Hendrick Health is hosting the Wellness Fair as part of a yearlong celebration of its 100th anniversary. The healthcare system’s century of service by compassionate employees committed to care and healing is reflected in the wellness fair’s theme “For a Healthier Community.”
