Hendrick Health announces new vice president/chief nursing officer for Abilene market

Hendrick Health is pleased to announce the promotion of Precilla Camacho, MA, BSN, RN, to vice president and chief nursing officer (CNO) for Abilene market.

Camacho joined Hendrick Health in 2013 and most recently served as senior director of nursing for the hospitals in Abilene. In her new role, Camacho will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to all nursing services across Hendrick Health’s Abilene market, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality nursing care. She also will oversee the development of nursing leaders, advance evidence-based practices and foster a culture of collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement.

“Precilla has played a vital role as a nurse leader for several years, and we are excited about her promotion and the leadership she will provide to nursing services,” said Susan Greenwood, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, Hendrick Health vice president and system CNO.

Raised in Abilene, Camacho began her Hendrick Health career as a staff nurse caring for patients with a primary cardiac diagnosis. In 2016, she was named nurse manager of the cardiovascular progressive care unit. Four years later, Camacho served as the first director of the new medical/telemetry service line for Abilene market, responsible for three departments. She was promoted again in 2023 as Abilene market director for centralized support services. Her accomplishments included collaborating with physicians and leadership teams to develop processes that increased accepted patient transfers from surrounding counties.

Camacho is known for leading, mentoring and developing nursing leaders and advancing service lines. She was selected by Abilene Chamber of Commerce for its 2025 class of Top 20 Under 40.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, Camacho received a master’s degree in counseling from St. Edward’s University in Austin. She returned to Abilene to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing through Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s accelerated program.
