Hendrick Health leaders combine leadership development event with bike build for kids

Hendrick Health is continually striving to foster trust and connections in our workforce to strengthen our mission of delivering high quality, compassionate care.

One example is last week's Leadership Development Institute Summit, where Hendrick Health leaders learned about the integral role of trust in workplaces by seasoned healthcare executive Dan Collard. The morning and afternoon sessions concluded with a fun activity that applied trust-building skills. Leaders were divided into groups to welcome a new "team member" - elementary school students from Abilene, Wylie and Brownwood independent school districts.

Leaders welcomed the new team member by explaining Hendrick Health's vital role and asking them to help with a hands-on community service project - building bikes to be gifted to children. When completed, imagine the children's joy at learning the bikes were for them.

The event was an experiential lesson in not only collaboration but of the power of serving others.
