Michael D. Murphy, FACHE

Chief Administrative Officer

Mr. Murphy began his career in human resources and gained his 39 years of healthcare management experience at hospitals in Texas and Colorado. He joined the Hendrick team after serving as CEO of Abilene Regional Medical Center since 2004. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and a Master of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University. Mr. Murphy has been an active member of Texas Hospital Association, where he serves as a board member, as well as the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has also been involved in many community organizations in Abilene.

Brian Bessent, FACHE

Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Bessent received his bachelor's degree in speech pathology at Hardin-Simmons University in 1996 and master's degree in speech pathology in 1998 at the University of North Texas in Denton. He began working at Hendrick in 1999, served as Director of Rehabilitation in 2008 and was promoted to Director of Transitional Services in 2011. He served as assistant vice president and was later promoted to vice president of coordinated and post-acute care. Mr. Bessent is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives .

Judy LaFrance, MSN, RN, NE-BC

Assistant Chief Nursing Officer

Ms. LaFrance, received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University. Judy previously worked at Hendrick from 1995-2018 in various roles as an RN, leader, and then Director of Emergency and Forensic Nursing Services, and most recently as a faculty member for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
