Patient & Family Classes
At Hendrick Medical Center, we know the birth of a baby is a major event
for your whole family. This is why we recommend family-centered maternity
care and are committed to providing the personalized experience you desire.
We encourage family involvement in planning and delivering care. We strive
to provide an individualized approach that meets all your needs. We want
you to be as comfortable and secure as possible.
Visitation on the Mother Baby Unit is from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. We have
recently implemented “Quiet Time” on the Mother Baby Unit
from 2–4 p.m. daily to allow new families to rest and bond without
interruption. Siblings will not be allowed to remain in the mother’s
room overnight due to safety and security precautions.
We hope your experience at Hendrick Medical Center is enriching and fulfilling.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call us. And, as your family
grows, remember that Hendrick Medical Center is here to help you with
your healthcare needs every step of the way.

Childbirth Classes
The staff at Hendrick Medical Center and your physician encourage and support
family participation in childbirth education. The series of three classes
is aimed to teach you and your coach information about labor and delivery,
pain and stress management skills, choices of pain medications, anesthesia
and variations of labor, hospital routines and Cesarean births. We believe
a good understanding of the birth process is essential to the health and
well-being of you and your baby. Our birth education classes will provide
you and your family with the information necessary to allow you to feel
as comfortable as possible as you prepare for the birth of your baby.
A tour of Labor and Delivery, Nursery and Mother Baby Unit is offered
during these classes.
