Professional Education at Hendrick

Healthcare professionals may receive continuing education credits, re-certification, and attend a variety of workshops and classes through the Department of Education and Professional Development. Staff and community members alike may take advantage of the great opportunities provided throughout the year.

Hendrick Health is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Hendrick Health is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Nurse Residency Program

At Hendrick, we understand the challenges nurses face in their transition to practice. Hendrick is proud to provide an RN Residency Program, an LVN Residency Program, and an Internationally Educated Nurse Residency Program. The Hendrick RN and LVN Residency Programs are designed to serve as a bridge between education and practice while offering peer and mentor support. The Hendrick Internationally Educated Nurse Residency Program is designed to facilitate the transition to U.S. nursing practices while also offering peer and mentor support. All transitions offer their unique challenges and we want to ensure our nurses have the support they need.

RN Residency Program

  • 8 month program
  • Monthly seminars cover a range of topics to facilitate professional development and career growth
  • All full time, newly licensed RNs with less than 12 months nursing experience are automatically enrolled into the program

LVN Residency Program

  • 8 week program
  • Weekly seminars cover a range of topics designed to foster critical thinking, enhance clinical skills, and promote confidence in the workplace
  • All full time, newly licensed LVNs with less than 12 months nursing experience are automatically enrolled into the program

Internationally Educated Nurse Residency Program

  • Extended training during initial Licensed Nurse Orientation
  • 6 month program
  • Monthly seminars cover a range of topics to facilitate transition to U.S. healthcare
  • All full time, first U.S. assignment or nurses with less than 12 months nursing experience in the U.S. are automatically enrolled into the program

Patient and Family Education
