CPR Classes

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the method of Basic Life Support (BLS). Hendrick Medical Center offers two separate types of CPR certification. Heartsaver AED CPR is training for the non-licensed or non-medical professional personnel. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is a more advanced basic life support course for licensed healthcare professionals and healthcare students. Both of these classes are held in a relaxed teaching environment conducive to student learning. Each class will teach the student the skills needed for Adult, Child and Infant CPR, as well as foreign airway obstruction for the conscious and unconscious victim. Hendrick Medical Center is an approved Training Center under the American Heart Association. This allows all certifications to be valid for a two-year period. Hendrick Medical Center also holds CPR re-certification classes.

Hendrick Medical Center Department of Education and Professional Development works in cooperation with the American Heart Association to provide education and information about prevention of heart disease, stroke and injury, as well as the necessary actions or steps to take when an emergency arises.

Courses for the non-licensed layperson are structured in everyday language and conducted in a non-threatening, positive atmosphere. More advanced life support courses offered to Hendrick Medical Center staff and healthcare professionals include Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Information about becoming a CPR instructor is also available.
