Hendrick Medical Center provides two types of learning experiences for ACLS: a two-day "live" traditional ACLS provider course and the HeartCode Self Learning ACLS course; and a “live” one-day recertification class.
The traditional ACLS provider course is a 16-hour class offering hands-on learning experiences, as well as case scenarios and lectures. Instructors who participate are from a wide variety of backgrounds including critical care nursing, emergency medicine and paramedicine. The classes are structured in a non-threatening learning environment with a focus on the individual's learning needs. Physician and nursing continuing education credit is provided, although nurses may only be awarded credit for the two-day certification course in keeping with Texas Nurses Association (TNA) guidelines.
