Ultrasound

Our ultrasound team is a group of sonographers registered in multiple ultrasound specialties. The combined years of experience exceeds 100 years in the diagnostic imaging field. Our facility has the highest number of onsite radiologists of any facility in the area. These specialists interpret images and perform invasive treatment procedures, which means you can trust in the experience and quality of our friendly staff while getting results in less time.

What is ultrasound?

An ultrasound is the use of high frequency sound waves that “bounce” off of internal structures and are picked up by a transducer when they return to the surface of your body. Ultrasound uses no radiation and is one of the safest forms of imaging. The most current developments in sonographic technology include 3D and 4D ultrasounds. Ultrasound is the premier way of imaging radiation-sensitive patients, radiation-sensitive organs, and blood flow.

Using one of our six state-of-the-art General Electric diagnostic ultrasound machines, we perform many types of sonography, including:

  • Abdominal ultrasounds
  • OB/GYN ultrasounds
  • Vascular ultrasounds
  • Breast ultrasounds
  • Invasive procedures such as biopsies and drainages

The ultrasound department is staffed 24-hours-per-day and cares for patients from the emergency rooms, labor and delivery, inpatient services and outpatient services. We have sonographers in the Vera West Women’s Center to care for a woman’s specific needs. We also have thoroughly trained vascular specialists who work closely with your cardiologist.
